I learned to sew when I was 9 years old and it has proven invaluable in my life. Whether it was bonding with my grandma making things for people at church or making my own costumes for plays, I was always ready to learn something new. I was lucky to get the opportunity to work in the costume shop in my college theater, and learned many new techniques (not to mention getting to work with much higher quality fabric and machines).
I was introduced to crochet by a friend in high school who taught me, and have learned from various online tutorials and books to create the things I wanted since learning. Though I know how to knit, I'm always drawn back to crochet because it's much faster to master and, I find, much easier.
I would love to pass on my knowledge in a fun, carefree environment. If a student isn't having fun, they're definitely not going to remember the lesson. I make sure that students feel respected when they ask questions, and if there is still confusion, finding a new way to explain the concept.
I look forward to meeting new students and sharing these wonderfully freeing hobbies.
I helped in the construction of some of the costumes in Take Two's recent production of Mamma Mia.
Assisted in the construction of costumes for student shows at Lindenwood University, including period costumes (1890's).
