Everything from the basics of rock/hard rock/metal drummer to double bass drum approach to drumming.

Shawn is a Canadian drummer, best known for his work with the American heavy metal band Megadeth.

He began playing the drums at the age of 13. In 1993 he founded the Canadian power metal band, Eidolon, with his brother Glen-The band released 5 records from 2000-2004 . He uses Sabian cymbals and Yamaha drums Promark drum sticks, Toca Percussion, Evans drumheads and Extreme Isolation headphones.

After ten years in Megadeth, Shawn announced his departure from the band on November 25, 2014 to form his new band with EX-Megadeth guitarist Chris Broderick called ACT OF DEFIANCE. Their debut record "BIRTH AND THE BURIAL" was released on August 21st, 2015 to world wide critical acclaim.

I started taking drum lessons with Shawn almost a year ago and couldn't ask for a better mentor/ drum instructor.  We started with basic beats and rhythm fills while working in any song request I wanted to use as my focus.  He has the ability to adapt during the lesson to match my skills while not giving me exercises beyond my level.  I am now getting comfortable using the double bass pedal and have integrated a variety of fundamentals that I wouldn't have been able to learn on my own.  I simply can't wait for my next lesson.
