Violin with Sharon W.

Originally from New Jersey, Sharon Waxman began playing piano at age 5. At the age of 11 she added viola lessons and was recognized by her teacher as a natural at the instrument. After 6 months of study, Sharon was accepted in the South Jersey Regional Orchestra. At the age of 13, the Interlochen Arts Festival in Interlochen, Michigan welcomed Sharon as a performer, and later that same year, she earned a place in the prestigious Juilliard School’s Pre-College program in New York City. After high school, Sharon studied music at Louisiana State University. Upon returning to New Jersey, she played in two professional orchestras: The Orchestra of St. Peter By the Sea and The Garden State Philharmonic. She currently teaches group beginner classes in viola and violin to students of all ages, and maintains a small private studio in Vermont.
