Sharon O. has a deep passion for music. She is a music educator and composer who believes music can empower you. After receiving her Bachelors of Music and Certificate of Music Therapy, she devoted more than 35 years training young musicians and using music as a source of healing with those in need. She has been a spiritual performer of both voice and piano and continues to be very committed to sharing the benefits of music with others. Here are a few key points that describe her music ideology and piano teaching method and why it has proven to be successful: People like to play music that they know and can relate to and to share music with others. They enjoy playing familiar melodies. Over the past few years, she has written and arranged hundreds of songs that are playable and accessible – and has watched her students' motivation level increase in leaps and bounds! There is rarely a struggle to practice at home, because the students enjoy practicing so much! No individual fits into one learning slot. Generally, students have a mixture of learning styles and needs and Ms. O. has developed a method which is flexible and tailor-made to every student's needs. Each student collects their favorite songs to play and makes their own songbooks, their love of piano grows rapidly while they develop their music reading and technical skills. Ultimately,Ms. O. has seen that most students start to become more curious and willing to learn and venture into new music that they do not necessarily recognize as time goes on. Ms. O. believes that every individual can feel successful at the piano and when they study with her they will enjoy themselves and become more creative human beings. Regarding young children....It is never too early to instill the gift of music ….early learning sets the groundwork for how children will view music for the rest of their lives! Lessons should always be fun and engaging . Ms. O. loves sharing music with others and develops as very warm rapport from the onset!
