Winter Break Class: HIGH SCHOOL WRITER'S SUCCESS PROGRAM from a Ph.D.

    Dec, 2017 - Present

    Shannon Wong Lerner Coaching

Winter Break Class: HIGH SCHOOL WRITER'S SUCCESS PROGRAM from a Ph.D. Prepare your high school sons/daughters for AP and Honors classes over winter break with a Writer's Success Program organized by a Communication Studies Ph.D. and R1 University Instructor. Students who take the Writer's Success Program could match skills gained to curriculum from Christian Brothers, Country Day, Franklin High School, and the International Baccalaureate Programme at Laguna Creek High. SKILLS your teenager will learn during the course of the program: ACTIVE READING (how to read strategically to best meet your learning goals) CRITICAL THINKING (how to transition from "opinion" vs. "fact" to using an evidence-based and logic-based set of claims) ARGUMENTATION (how to establish a thesis, supporting points, and how to follow through with your claims) WRITING FUNDAMENTALS (grammar, citation, syntax, active tense, conciseness, vocabulary, and the basic structure/and trappings of scholarly essay writing) I tutor high school students privately and independently or in groups for the Writer's Success Program. Please see my website for my services, bio, testimonials, and rates: shannonwonglernercoaching.com I am located in the Elk Grove/Pocket Area. I look forward to hearing from you. My bio: Shannon Wong Lerner As a professional writer, I have taught for almost 20 years, and I have devised a program specifically suited for young adult writers in demanding high school programs. I am trained in American and European topics of scholarship such as philosophy, the classics (including Ancient Greek), literature, the Humanities, and Social Sciences. I have taught ESL/EFL as well for many years. I hold an M.S. in Rhetoric and Technical Communication. My B.A. is in Creative Writing/English Literature. I have always prided myself on the excellence of my research and writing (including publications) as much as my teaching record as a university, high school, middle school instructor, and tutor. I have taken numerous seminars and presented at professional conferences in the United States and Europe.
