I am a self-taught knitter who perfected my skills and started a non-profit. For five years, I led a group of people from all over the United States to knit hats and scarves for the homeless community. I currently, have a group of knitters that we knit together monthly to increase the importance of self-care. Educationally, my BS is in Telecommunications with a minor in Public Relations and Advertising. My MBA is in Entrepreneurship. I have four professional certifications in the areas of health and wellness as well. Outside of formal education, there are things that we acquire in life that doesn't have to be accompanied by a big fancy degree. Knitting is one of those things for me! I am naturally gifted to knit and I am an excellent instructor. Personally, I knit at least 4 days a week and I take my knitting everywhere I go -in the car when we are driving across town, in meetings, on vacations; everywhere. I love when people notice that I am knitting and they ask me, "What are you making?" It gives me an opportunity to spark their interest in knitting and I love the stories people tell me about how a key loved one in their family used to knit or how they learned to knit as a child. Connecting well with people as a listener helps as a teacher too. I understand the importance of patience, laughter and being a support to others. When I'm not knitting, my hobbies include: exercising, reading, watching Netflix, writing and designing books and printables, baking and sewing. With a joy of helping others learn the craft of knitting, that I love so much, I am excited to pass on this art to a student who can then pass it on someone too. Together we can keep this wonderful art alive and thriving from generation to generation!
