    Shaheed is a graduate of the University of Southern California, with a Master of Arts in Teaching- TESOL, a B.A. in Dramatic Arts (Jack Nicholson Award winner), and a minor in Entrepreneurship. He has taught EFL & ESL learners and teachers in China, Los Angeles, Malaysia, and South Korea, plus facilitated workshops in Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand. As an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Department of State from 2014-2016, he worked directly with the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, local teachers, students, and education professionals to enact meaningful and sustainable changes in the way English was taught. In 2017, he taught at Irvine Valley College, helping adult-ESL students develop the language skills they needed in order to thrive in the United States. From 2018-2019, he was the Senior Teacher at Aidi Middle School in Beijing. Over the past three years, Shaheed taught reading, speaking, TOEFL, and phonics skills to 1,800 preschool-9th grade students online with VIPKid, and logged more than 2,600 hours of one-on-one virtual teaching. In Malaysia, Shaheed worked at the University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), where he taught English for Business. Throughout Southeast Asia, he worked on curriculum development, facilitated over 100 workshops throughout six countries, trained teachers, coached Ministry of Education officials, and supported the U.S. Embassy’s English ACCESS Microscholarship program. While a Fellow, he presented at regional TESOL conferences, and won Gold for “Best Workshop” at the International Conference on English Language Teaching (ICELT). In 20 months, he taught 3,006 students and trained 2,940 teachers in the East Asia and Pacific region. Currently, Shaheed devotes his time to teachers and officers as a Virtual English Language Fellow for the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, where he guides Ministry of Defense Officers and the Malaysian Armed Forces with negotiation and writing. He previously consulted the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on lesson planning and classroom management. Shaheed resides in California where he teaches in the Riverside Unified School District.
