Hello! My name is Seth. I'm currently enrolled in the College of Business at the University of Utah. I began playing guitar when I was 15 after my dad suggested I pick up his old Takamine. I immediately started teaching myself the chords in the back of a instruction book. I am completely self taught however, throughout my 10 years of playing I've picked up new techniques, skills and song repertoire from the many musicians I've met. I spent 4 years working at Bert Murdock Music in Orem, UT where I learned guitar maintenance and repair from a master luthier. I've played in bands both in Utah and Texas where my parents live. I am a songwriter. There is no better instrument to accompany the voice than the guitar! I learned to sing as a boy when I joined the Colorado Children's Choral based in Denver. There I received vigorous vocal and performance training by highly trained conductors and choreographers. We performed for thousands across the United States-an experience I'll never forget. Teaching others the invaluable information I've received is important and rewarding for me. Dr. Seuss provides an exciting summation about education, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Happy learning! Seth *** Lesson Details *** As a beginner we use "Hal Leonard's: Guitar Method" series to help the student hone technique and rhythm while creating an environment of accountability. It's important for the student and I to develop an honest student/teacher relationship so that each lesson is productive and subjectively progressive. I believe an attitude of patience for us both will increase productivity and respect. Each lesson will focus on the material at hand and the student is expected to be ideally prepared and excited. I will provide all materials not specified to the student including: music stands, additional texts, repair tools, scratch paper, personal papers and material, candy, incentives, etc... We will have fun! All subjects are fascinating. With the right teacher and the right attitude, the joy of learning will be quite rewarding. *** Studio Equipment *** USB recording *** Travel Equipment *** Music stand, tuner, instrument cables. Book, guitar, amp if app. picks *** Specialties *** Fingerpicking, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Theory, Scales, Vocals, Songwriting, Lyrics, Rhythm, Expression, Creativity
