I offer beginner to advanced violin lessons for all ages. I have gotten to perform in many different ensembles and styles. This allows me to adapt to students' interests. Having taught privately for over a decade now (has it really been that long?), I have developed many ways of explaining specific concepts since one student may understand it perfectly if explained differently than how another student grasped it. Teaching violin is one of my greatest loves because I get to constantly see students fall in love with music and violin.

Selena has been a wonderful instructor for our daughter. Her patience and ability to work with your children is admirable. Our daughter has really taken to her and the violin. We are looking forward to our future lessons, and plan to bring our younger daughter to her when she's a little older.

    Experience

    Private Violin Teacher

    Violin Faculty

    May, 2013 - Aug, 2015

    El Sistema Korea

I was the violin instructor for the youth orchestra program for El Sistema Korea. It was a lot of fun getting to teach so many talented players on an individual basis and as a section. Watching the development and joy of my students as they had their "light bulb" moments was definitely the highlight.

    Ensemble Coach

    Aug, 2010 - May, 2012

    Suzuki Piano School of Knoxville

I played violin for piano students and coached several of the chamber ensembles. This was a blast since it was some of the first exposure to chamber music for these kids and it's always a lot of fun figuring out how there is not a whole section around you (more accountability and more freedom).

    Violin Instructor

    Aug, 2008 - May, 2010

String Project at the University of Kentucky

This is an outreach program through the University of Kentucky. I worked as the orchestra conductor, violin teacher, and piano accompanist for beginner, intermediate and advanced ensembles.
