Levels Taught:
My name is Scott Watts, and I have been tutoring Spanish for 2 years. When taking Spanish lessons from me you can expect a customized cirriculum, including a variety of different methods best suited to your particular learning style (audio, visual, kinesthetic). I start with general vocabulary and common, useful phrases so that you can enjoy speaking SOME spanish right away! As we progress further and as you build your vocabulary, we'll introduce more about grammar, verb conjugation and other language structures so that you can get creative and start to learn how to build sentences using the vocabulary and grammatical skills that you have developed.

A variety of study aids keep Spanish fresh in your mind on a daily basis and since different students learn in different ways, lessons will not involve simply reading through a textbook, but will also include a variety of creative ways to help you learn the language quickly and help you to retain what you've learned!

For students who are already taking a Spanish class:
Those who have taken lessons with me in the past and who follow my suggestions, keeping up with study outside of lesson times have seen a 1-2 letter grade improvement on their tests, quizzes and course grades.

For those who are not currently taking a Spanish class:
Whether you've never spoken a word of Spanish or you're looking for a refresher, students can expect to learn and retain a great deal of the language quickly if they commit themselves and approach the subject daily...even a quick glance daily will VASTLY improve your retention!

As with the other subjects that I teach, I'll help you to create and reach the goals that YOU set for yourself so that you're aiming in the direction that YOU desire!

Thanks for considering me for your lessons

Hey there Trumpeters and Potential Trumpeters!

A few more notes about myself and my background...

I've spent most of my life working as a musician, since 1999, when I was 13. I took to the trumpet on the suggestion of an amazing public school music teacher when I showed up asking to join the jazz band without the ability to play an instrument or even read music...(had no idea what I was doing at the time)!

However, I started taking lessons with him that summer and by the end of the school year I'd gone from bottom chair to lead in every group at school and within a couple of years started performing with my teachers and with professional musicians in the greater Seattle area, then hitting the recording studios. By 15 I was invited to be a guest musician with the Seattle Symphony.

I studied under the Principal Trumpeter of the Seattle Ballet company from 14 to 18 and went to college with a passion for music. I studied music at the University of Maine and University of Nebraska at Omaha, performing, touring and teaching along the way. During that time, I joined a few small jazz ensembles, along with the university bands as well as a 20+ irish-rock group that I continue to play and tour with today.

I have also worked as a firefighter for over five years, and recently completed my training at Creighton University and earned my license to serve as an EMT in the state of Nebraska...maybe going for paramedic as well. I love working with and helping people!

I have a number of students in the Omaha area now and I would love to meet you (whether for online for online or face to face for in-house lessons) and see if you would like me to help you become the amazing trumpeter and musician that you want to be!

Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to meeting you!

Scott has taught me so much! He is skilled at WAY more than only the trumpet. He has always been able to break down extremely complicated things, so that even a Kindegartener could understand what he was saying.

Scott has a real passion for music and that is evident in his energetic teaching style. He is an extremely talented musician, able to play the tin whistle and trumpet incredibly well, and wants to share those talents with everyone he can. He probably gets even more excited when one of his students learns something new than when he himself does. I think he would rather see a student play a perfect piece than himself, which speaks to his generosity and great personality. If you're looking for an awesome teacher and mentor, Scott is a great choice.

Scott is a great teacher. He explains so that the student understands, and he takes time to motivate and encourage. Our teenage son really enjoys the lessons with Scott.
