About Scott K.
I play upright bass, electric bass, guitar, piano, drums, and sing. I also compose original songs and Jazz music. I am currently completing my Master's at Manhattan School of Music. In NYC I have played at Smoke Jazz club and have done many private and public singer/songwriter gigs singing and playing guitar. I LOVE teaching music along with instruments. In other words, I will teach you not just your instrument but ALSO music theory and how to improvise (Jazz). From starting a new hobby to refining your songwriting, I am glad to help you any step of the way! I have been teaching for 7 years. Outside of music I can offer immense life experience in dealing with physical pain, overcoming relationship problems, and personal growth through recommended literature and discussion.

Great instructor, very patient and knowledgable, Perfect for beginning players. Very chill, enjoyable experience.

I had no clue how to play a bass guitar. I was fortunate thru the college he was teaching at to be honored to have Scott teach me at my beginner level, the basics of bass guitar. His patience with me was much appreciated as again, this was new to me and at the time being 69 years old, I wasn’t a quick learner. After several sessions, I was able to play basic cords, study the notes on the frets thru his lesson plan. I was sad that Scott left the college for NYC, but was very happy for him as he wanted to pursue his masters degree. Thanks to his patience and excellent teaching skills, I was able to continue lessons with another instructor and not embarrass myself as I had minute skills that helped me become a little more than a beginner. I am still going at it and loving every second but it was Scott’s patience and teaching skills that kept the fire lit to continue pursuing my love of the bass guitar. I can’t thank Scott enough and I wish him well with his goal of a master’s degree.

Scott is a great teacher and an even better friend. His background in music makes him unlike any other instructor. I’d highly recommend him to anyone, at any skill level.

Best teacher ever! Before I couldn’t even transition from a c chord to a g chord and in a month I can play much more stuff and have a much bigger knowledge of music in general and how intervals and notes. Which at the beginning looks like very difficult stuff but huge thanks and I highly recommend!

I've been playing bass for years but felt like there was always something I was missing. I was technically proficient enough to play some of my favorite songs but always had a hard time improvising and was intimidated by music theory. Scott made it simple to learn the basics of music theory and help me up my solo/improv game. He also exposed me to new genres of music that I had never considered playing. Working with him was always a good time and I look forward to possibly learning another instrument with him in the future. Stay funky bro!
