    About Scott C.

Scott C. is a professional Seattle/Tacoma-area singer/songwriter, musician, storyteller, and artist offering private, individually-focused instruction since 2005 in multiple areas of self expression including for guitar for performance, pleasure, and personal growth; creative storytelling through songwriting, music theory, and metaphor exploration; and personal voice development. Having worked with students from 9 to 60 years of age with 0 to 30 years of experience playing guitar and/or writing, Scott recognizes that each student brings a distinct investment and style to the work of personal development. However, committing quality time in which to retain, practice and nurture new skills beyond scheduled lessons tends be a nearly universal struggle in the 21st century. For busy minds in a busy world, Scott works intentionally to enrich information comprehension and enhance the value of practice. His own distinct style of teaching and coaching draws from contemporary neuropsychology, learning theory, multi-modal thinking, mindfulness, self-awareness, and Zen thought. Whatever the bounds of your lesson, he will help you define cognitive tools for potent learning, foster your self expression, and widen the space of your life for new realms of possibility. Scott is also the front man and primary songwriter for the seven-piece 'new vintage soul' band Letters From Traffic.

Scott's a great teacher and a warm, engaging and friendly person as well. He is someone who has made Music his career, his #1 passion, and it shows in all the lessons he provides. I look at his lessons as "Master Classes". Scott has so far given me some insights that go beyond technique etc. that have really helped: -- Singing quality is subjective to some degree. It will vary everytime a performer sings it. How expressive & evocative it is of a true emotion is one of the most critical factors -- Playing Taylor like songs: Don't get hung up with copying the picking exactly. This has been remarkably freeing for me. -- Playing with singing, tightening of the throat, just being aware of things going on there. And More.

Took guitar lessons from Scott for about a year! I was such a beginner I didn't even have a guitar at the time! Not only did he find a lovely guitar for me, his lessons were awesome. He was always on time, very patient and took your improvement seriously. Great guy and great teacher. Highly recommend!

I took guitar lessons from Scott for about 6 months when I was living in Seattle. He had a room in his house dedicated to music and he was always prepared for our lesson together. Scott not only taught me different basics and techniques of playing as well as theory, but he also helped me break some self-taught bad habits. Scott encouraged me to look at and listen to music in a different way than just strumming a chord or plucking a string. He taught me how to play with my heart and to play with passion. He also told me about "The Song" which is that moment in playing that you just play whatever shows up and you keep playing and everything around you disappears. And its in this moment that real music happens and your experience of life shifts. If you choose Scott as your instructor, I promise you will not be disappointed.
