I have recently graduated from Texas State University with a Masters degree in Music Performance – Clarinet in the Spring of 2017. This degree focus was to further cultivate my performance, clarinet pedagogy, and literature studies of clarinet repertoire for clarinet instruction. My professional skills cover a wide range of instrumental fundamentals, practice applications, and other various musical techniques concerning all things clarinet instruction. Will travel 50 miles out for a lesson because no student should have to suffer with the urning to learn and better themselves.

The S.M.A.R.T. Orchestra

The San Marcos Artists’ Retention and Training Orchestra (SMART) is dedicated to the enhanced appreciation and understanding of orchestral music in San Marcos and its surrounding communities. This is accomplished by providing an opportunity for developing musicians to perform and learn in a full symphony orchestra as well as through a free, community concert series, various educational outreach opportunities, as well as instructor and internship programs. The orchestra was built upon the idea that we need to retain the talent we have and we need to train them to become better musicians.

The SMART Orchestra is designed to be an outlet for every individual interested in the study and performance of orchestral music and we encourage participants to contribute their time, talent, and skill to better serve the orchestra’s mission. Whether you are a member of our audience, performing in the SMART viola section or serving on the SMART Board, your enthusiasm and curiosity are welcome in an environment of acceptance and growth.

My twin boys took private clarinet lessons with Mr. Byers. They learned and improved a lot in so little time. Unfortunately, he was relocated and lessons had to stop. My twins were sad when they were informed about this matter. My family and I wish him the best and he will be missed a lot. Thank you for everything you have done for our twin boys.
