It is my belief that drawing does not receive the attention it deserves and has been long overshadowed by its sibling, painting.  Learning how to see and understand why one is seeing it is crucial to how a drawing is dictated onto the surface.  A strong foundation in drawing will provide stability for the other mediums as well.

I have been an art instructor for beginners and intermediate students for the last 8 years.  I, myself, am also a current student pursuing a degree in behavioral health.  This aspect of my education entails a deeper understanding of the mind and what hinders it, but especially what improves it.  From this scientific standpoint, drawing encompasses an array of cognitive and therapeutic benefits.  In all of my lessons I hope to incorporate all the ways in which art distributes its far-reaching benefits.

Hello!  My name is Sasha and I look forward to being your art teacher.  I studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts with a degree in painting, but I would consider myself more of a draftsman who loves science and architecture (this does not mean that I do not love or teach painting!)

In my experience with art, I will insist that art is not to be made simply for art's sake.  Art is a vehicle and a very diverse one at that.  Art should be made for fun, but it can also be used for exploration, emotional well-being, and deepened understanding of our world and ourselves.

I work with every student at their level of skill and interest.  If you are not sure where to start, I am happy to create lesson plans for you.
