My name is Sarah, and I have been teaching private lessons in voice and piano for three years. I have recently received a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Houghton College, with a concentration in voice. Having been involved in over a dozen musical theater and operatic productions, I have had experience teaching and coaching students in both classical and contemporary vocal technique as well as teaching and accompanying on piano. Voice students will not only learn basic vocal technique, vocal care, music theory and ear training, but also how to confidently portray emotion when singing and how to get rid of tension. I teach my voice students how to unlock and feel comfortable and confident with their own unique, individual voice. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student's goals and musical identity. Piano students will learn the basics, as well as advanced techniques depending on the level, of playing piano. Having studied classical piano for 16 years, and contemporary for 4 years, I can teach classical techniques and music theory as well as contemporary techniques, and reading music using chord sheets. Lessons take place in my music classroom at a local school in Tonawanda, NY. Parents of students are more than welcome to sit and listen to their child's lessons!
