Hi friends! I'm a professional actor, director, and fight choreographer who has been working since I was ten years old. I left NYC two years ago after accepting a full-ride offer to earn my Master's degree in acting. I have one year left, and while I'm here, I am also teaching undergraduate acting. I'm formally trained in Stanislavski, Stella Adler, and Meisner, with training in many other methods as well, and I am able to work with you on whatever you would like, from basics, memorization, and diction all the way up to Meisner technique.

Because I started working when I was young, I love to teach kids as well. I spent three years on an international tour performing a one-woman show in elementary and middle schools, and I have led many high school workshops, so I love spending time with students of all ages.

Most importantly, if you work online with me, you will get to hang out with Belko, my one-year-old chihuahua. She's a better actor than all of us. I look forward to meeting you!

About Sarah L.

Hey friends! You're looking for acting lessons! That's amazing because being a professional actor means you are self-employed, and you have to be motivated to find your own work. By looking for a teacher, that's exactly what you're doing right now, meaning you already are living the life of an actor.

I have been acting since I was ten years old, and I'm a professional actor, stage combatant, director, and fight director/violence designer (stage combat is my life), and I'm currently studying intimacy direction. I have performed in almost all of the United States, as well as England, Canada, and Australia. I'm originally from Michigan, but I also lived in Ohio and San Francisco before settling down in New York City- my favorite place on Earth. I'm back in the midwest earning my MFA in acting, but I'll be back in NYC the day after I graduate, so I would love to tell you about being a working actor in the city. If you want this to be your career, there are so many aspects to being successful that have nothing to do with performing, and everything to do with business and learning how to market yourself. If you want, we can absolutely look at the business side of the career as well.

My very first professional job was a four-year tour of Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth as Juliet and Lady M, so Shakespeare and classical language is a big passion of mine, but if you're not interested in focusing on classical work, that's completely fine! The playwrights of this generation are fierce and are telling the most amazing stories that need to be shared. When coaching, I love to pull from their work, especially female-identifying and POC playwrights whenever possible.

Please feel free to ask any questions you may have to ensure we are a good fit, but regardless of whether or not we end up working together, I'm incredibly excited for you to be taking this step in your career or hobby. Please note that my availability for the summer excludes the weekends, but if that is the only time you are available, please reach out and we will make something work. Stay safe and healthy!

Ms Sarah immediately made my daughter Kezia feel comfortable. She was kind enough to ask my daughter to submit some videos she did for a potential agent prior to her appointment and on the day of their scheduled time gave her some constructive feedback. Even though it was online it did not feel Ike it at all. For a first lesson it went really great

Sarah is the perfect combination of knowledgeable, supportive, and patient. As someone starting from scratch, I couldn't have hoped for a more attentive instructor. Highly recommended.

Sarah is extremely helpful. She always took the time to be helpful but honest in her evaluation of what I was doing. Then she would help me find a way to make it better. I know that my skills have improved since working with her!

I didn't know how she was going to help me online, but she made it fun and I really love the way she helped me understand what it really means to act - "You +" so I don't have to take myself out of it, I just build on top of who I already am. Thank you!!

She made it easy to break down the elements of Shakespearean acting (it's hard stuff!). Now I'm a lot more comfortable with its language & emotions, and it helps out with other areas of my performance as well!

The best thing about Sarah is the enthusiasm she puts into every single lesson. She genuinely cares about my progress and where i want to be in my career. Because she has immersed herself in so many different aspects of acting, she is able to really offer a perspective from someone who knows the industry inside and out. If you want to become a more dynamic actor, I highly recommend working with Sarah if the opportunity arises. Thanks, Sarah!

Sarah made me look at the craft in a completely new way that opened up my possibilities. The process became less daunting, and I was able to truly connect with the character and text! Plus, Sarah is fun to work with! I CANNOT recommend her enough!

Sarah has been absolutely instrumental in my acting career. I first started working with her when I had graduated from undergrad, and felt like I had suddenly lost the structure of acting classes and study. There is absolutely no way I would be where I am (pursuing a career in acting in NYC) without the support and on point coaching I have had from Sarah. She has helped me remain grounded, open, and connected in my monologues and scene work. I will always be grateful to her for her expertise!!
