I am a professional teacher, singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. I graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Music Performance in trombone and voice. I also earned a Master of Music Education from Belmont University. My students can expect improvement each day with my guidance. I pride myself in taking a very tailored approach to teaching private music; the one-on-one medium of private lessons provides the perfect opportunity to address the particular strengths and weaknesses of each student. Everyone has strengths that should be built upon, and I teach around each student’s innate gifts. I teach with the goals of musical fluency and joy In mind. My purpose is for each of my students to be able to sing and play whatever they want, whenever they want! It’s that simple. I teach students of all ages and experience levels, but I specialize in beginners. As someone who has played at all levels and has recovered from a lot of musical baggage, I realize how the beginning stage of music study is crucial to lifelong enjoyment. I began playing piano at the age of 5, taught myself drums at 10, played trombone in band starting at age 11, learned other brass instruments along the way, picked up a guitar at 14, and began studying voice at 18. I’ve performed in the Grand Ol’ Opry, the greatest cathedrals of Europe, and Carnegie Hall, twice. I have also learned to cope with my ADHD and I’ve taught students with special needs. I know how to learn and I can see the obstacles we all have to learning what we want. I simply see the potential in every single student. This is my unique gift as a teacher.
