I got my first camera when I was 8 years old and have been a passionate shutterbug ever since. I can teach you how to use all of the manual features on your camera to get the effects you want to achieve, and I can help you to train your eye to see and capture memorable compositions. I encourage each student to find his or her personal style to express a unique vision. You don't need any experience to become an artist, just the desire to start noticing new things all around you and capturing moments to share with others! For in-person lessons, we will meet in an outdoor setting to learn photography in natural light and existing light conditions. Online classes can be held in any location you have access to over Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype.
About Sarah L.

*Please note: If you are interested in online classes they will take place over Skype, Zoom, or FaceTime, not TakeLessons Classroom (for technological reasons)* In-person classes are in San Bruno, California. Hello, and thank you for visiting my page! I have been an artist for my whole life and I am passionate about sharing my love of creativity with others. I earned an MFA in Costume Design from UCLA in 2007 and have been a freelance costume designer, college professor, photographer, illustrator, jewelry designer, and private fine arts instructor. As much as I love to create, what I really love is to help somebody learn to do something they love and create something they can be proud of! I am happy teaching all ages, and I specialize in helping each student find his, her, or their unique vision. I can teach sewing by hand and on a machine, including how to read and understand the instructions in commercial patterns. Bring your project and I'll help you make it happen! I am highly skilled at teaching life drawing, as well as marker rendering and watercolor fashion illustration. Photography is my other passion, and I look forward to helping you understand how to use a camera's many features, and your eye, to create art.

Sarah is patient and answered all my questions about using my camera in different situations. She answered my questions about shutter speed and aperture with easy to understand examples. I hope to have another lesson with her once I practice my newfound knowledge about photography!

I enjoy taking lessons with Sarah. As a beginner, she takes the time to explain every detail regarding the photography and the use of my camera. I learn so much after a few lessons.
