    About Sarah F.

I have been working as an educator for the last eleven years, but I have been professionally employed as an educator since August of 2012. As a college professor, I instructed 17-24 year olds and as a museum educator I work with 4 - 17 year olds. My specialties range from AP English to International Relations and I am happy to adjust my teaching style to fit the needs of the individual student. Learning should never be a task or an imposition - it can be fun. A college professor once said to me, "If it's presented in a gross, funny, obnoxious or entertaining way, you'll never forget it," and this is the teaching style that I have used successfully for years. With my creative approaches to teaching, students will absorb lessons quickly and retain what they learn. I do not want students to simply "memorize" things - I teach so that they will be able to explain and expand upon facts or opinions that they will gain as they learn.

    Professor

    St. John's University

The course was on the politics of ethnic neighborhoods in New York City. The course that I designed focused on the cooperation and interaction of multi-ethnic neighborhoods within New York City. The students read two books, one fiction the other non-fiction, which depicted life in NYC in the 1800s when the rise of immigration was at its peak. To teach the students further about the communities of which we spoke, we went on three field trips to bring the locations, cultures and experiences to life.
