Levels Taught:
Middle School, High School, College
I have been tutoring for almost 5 years. During my lessons, I help with homework and add additional problems and examples in areas the student seem to be struggling in. I like to use visual representations as often as possible because I believe that the way one student learns, does not apply to all students! Thus, if the student isn't understanding, then it's not the student's fault but the teacher's. I believe that learning should be fun and I try to incorporate that into my lessons!

Teaching since:

Hi! My name is Sara and I just graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo. I now live in Texas as a photographer while my husband attends medical school. I love learning and getting to experience lots of different things! When I worked at BYU as a Peer Mentor, I met one-on-one with first year college students to assist them in developing time management skills, effective study strategies, and test-prep skills. Before that I worked at a daycare for a year where I ran a homework club for elementary school students. I've also assisted in creating and carrying out a homeschool curriculum for my 4 special needs siblings over the last few years and currently teach a Sunday School class of 3 years-olds at my church - some of which also have special needs. I genuinely enjoy spending time with and meeting new people and I'm excited to get to know each of you!

I also encourage self-authorship by teaching my students the skills and information necessary for them to make their own decisions and be accountable for their own actions - the only way to be truly successful and prepared for life.

Sara is dependable and hard-working. She is very smart, and she is very good at breaking down subjects so that students who are struggling can understand them.

She is extremely sensitive to every individual's needs and she truly makes a difference in their lives and in helping them to become better and more effective students. She really helped me to better manage my time and study more effectively. I highly recommend her.
