Enhance your singing voice with singing lessons from a professional vocalist

I have been a teacher for the last 10 years and a musician all my life. I have experience with all ages and abilities; learning styles and interests. Singing is one of the most intimate forms of self-expression so we focus first on creating a safe space and student-teacher relationship. Together, we will identify student goals and interests and identify appropriate, healthy singing habits and musicianship as our focus. I believe student engagement and participation in what and how we learn is vital for success. While I have a lesson structure that we begin with, it does not always fit every students learning style and needs. I spend a lot of time thinking about how to best support students individual growth. My hope is that each student feels empowered and supported to have their own voice heard.

I am a vocalist and musician from Western Massachusetts now on the West Coast! I have been singing and playing music since before I can remember. I grew up singing in school and regional choirs as well as playing the flute in District and All-State Festivals. I have been fortunate enough to play leads in many community musicals including Belle (Beauty and the Beast), Maria (The Sound of Music), Rosie (Mamma Mia), and Mary Poppins (Mary Poppins). I have also been a guest soloist with area churches and orchestras as well as sang in a Southern Rock Band from 2017-2019. Currently, I study at Santa Monica College in their Applied Voice Program. In addition to my musical training, I am also a certified yoga teacher and have taken several college courses in child development. I was an early childhood/special educator for many years and have experience with many different kinds of learners including those on the autism spectrum, ADHD, and hearing difficulties. Singing is such an intimate art form, I find many students struggle with allowing their voice to be heard because they’re afraid of it sounding “bad” or “wrong.” It is very vulnerable and can be tied in with self-confidence and self-worth. Therefore, I incorporate a lot of my yoga and youth mental healt/anxiety relief training and experience to help students develop a strong self-concept. I have worked with many students with anxiety, stage-fright, etc and have been fortunate to share in many of their successes as musicians and as they work towards feeling more comfortable with themselves. Helping students get ready for an audition is a strength of mine. I love getting to know students and families and sharing in their musical journey whether its a 65 year old who has always wanted to sing but never found the time, a high school student looking to prepare for college audition, or an 8 year old just starting out, inspired by their first musical experience. I look forward to hearing from you!!

Sara has worked with my girls in class and now online! It’s truly an exciting experience. I was nervous my dancers would be so shy and not wanting to sing! By the end of the class everyone thought they were Beyoncé. It takes more than skills to be a great teachers. Miss Sara has heart, that’s what you really need! We love you Miss Sara! Can’t wait to have you back

Sara is very supportive, sweet and patient. She never gets mad if you make a mistake. She works with your interests and helps find songs that work well with your voice and songs that challenge you. Her instructions are effective and easy to understand. She and is talented which is inspiring and we have become better singers because of her.
