Drums with Sanjay P.

Music is my passion, and I've been playing drums for about 16 years and guitar for about 9, and have a deep interest for music of all genres, especially rock, jazz, hip-hop, r&b, and alternative. In high school, I played on my school's drumline, and learned immeasurable lessons about technique, and about how to practice in the most effective and efficient ways possible, to meet the strict demands of the marching style of drumming, eventually becoming the captain of my drumline. At the same time, I began playing in bands with my friends, learning how to channel creativity through the instrument while writing songs, and simultaneously learning many of the skills (such as recording, mixing, engineering, playing live) that nicely balanced the theoretical and technical things I learned on the drumline. I attended UCLA, receiving a B.S. in Neuroscience in 2017, and during my time there, I was able to take a plethora of classes on music theory, music history, music production, and had the opportunity to learn from some of the most well-renowned and well-employed studio musicians in the Los Angeles area. While I have the theoretical and technical background to ensure that you're learning things in a structured, thoughtful, and efficient manner, I won't bog you down with the intellectual side of music if that isn't what you want. Instead, I want to focus on helping you create art, and improving your abilities to the point that they won't hinder your ability to express yourself through music.
