My specialty is teaching tap as a musical instrument. For me, the movement serves the sound rather than a visual effect. No matter if you're a beginning, intermediate or advanced student, you will discover the potential of the human body to help internalize musical concepts such as phrasing, form, improvisation, and self-expression, as well as gain organic access to complex musical structures. Whether your focus is on building tap dance skills, seeking to connect body and mind in a profound and musical way, or are a musician who wants to become more connected and physically involved with the groove within - you are in the right place! The tap steps are merely tools to access your unique voice. My tap lessons combine technique, improvisation, and combinations with mindfulness, breathing, and body awareness exercises. Find the groove that is within you!

About Sandra K.

Hi!

My name is Sandra, and I'm an internationally performing and teaching tap dance artist/tap percussionist.
I have performed in notable events and venues such as Thomas Marek's show NOLA, the Tap Dance Days festival, Swiss Tap Days, Düsseldorf Photo Weekend, Symphony Space, LaGuardia PAC, Judson Church, Piano's, The Duke on 42nd St, Basilica Hudson, and many more.

I have been invited to teach at renowned facilities such as tanzhaus nrw, tap club, BlueTap, and Sound Space Philly, and to be a teaching artist in residence at Thomas Marek's Studio Footprints. I am regularly teaching tap classes in Brooklyn.

I am an alumna of the Art Omi Music Fellowship Program.

I was first introduced to tap at the age of 10 by her Mom. In the following years, I studied with greats such as Barbara Duffy, Sebastian Weber, Pia Neises, Derick Grant, and Heather Cornell, to only name a few. I have been part of Tap City's Pre-Professional Program twice, once with Michelle Dorrance, and once with Sarah Petronio, and graduated from Daniel Luka's tap apprenticeship S.O.N.T.I. with magna cum laude.
