I studied under Mr. Willis Ley at Ley Studio for eighteen years. She was an accompanist for the Heritage School of Dance for twelve years and also played for the School for the Richmond Ballet for One Year. Sandra was trained in contemporary, patriotic and classical music as well as music theory. She has taught children and adults piano both in their homes as well as in her home. She is an accomplished pianist who will give the student a rewarding and fulfilling experience in mastering the keyboard to their fullest potential and play any song for there own enjoyment and for the enjoyment of others.
*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher, I would work with the student on learning there favorite song. This would be a goal to set for the student for the first three months. They would be taught to do the scale with their right hand. They would learn there sharps and flats and the difference between the two key signatures. They would also learn during the first six months some of the basic terms in music theory. I would set goals, but never overwhelm the student, but work with them according to how much they could take in. They would have weekly assignments. If an assignment is not mastered during that time, then we would review it and carry it to the next week. When one assignment is mastered, then the student would work on the next. This would be a step by step processed. My goal for the student the first six months is to get that child or adult to be able to play their chords in their left hand, octaves and fillings in their right hand and know how to work the pedals. They would understand and know the key signatures and what timing they are playing in. The student would also know some of the basic music terms. Please keep in mind that this depends on how much information that the student can process. With some it could take a little bit longer. With others it would take less time.

My 8 yr old daughter was taking her first class . She was very patient and informative and helped our daughter be engaged in her piano lessons. My daughter was looking forward to learning more about playing her favorite instrument.

Es una hermosa maestra ..... Enseña muyyyyyy bien.

She is very engaging , my 6 year old son enjoyed his first lesson!

So far so good. Sandra seems to have the patience I need as a beginner. Thank you Sandra.

My daughter is student the, Ms Sandra she is good with teach piano , have patience with the kids . Thank you Ms Sandra to teaching my daughter.

I was impressed. I took lessons years ago and she turned the light on to many things I have forgotten. She has inspired me to work hard to grow. I would highly recommend. I would have given 5 stars, but the comment “best teacher ever”, to me, would be inappropriate to any teacher or person of any field.

Sandra is a very kind and patient teacher. I look forward to my lessons each week.

Professional, knowledgeable, interested in student, patient, personable

She is a very good teacher and she has a lot of patients. I had recently had my third lesson with her and she has helped me learn my hand placement, my notes, and I am starting to try and put the treble clef and bass clef together.

Sandra is very patient, kind, and gentle with my children, who are first time players. Her teaching approach is different for each one of my children, to best meet their individual learning needs. I can't believe how much they have grasped in only four lessons!

Prompt. Patient. Kind.

Sandra is very patient and effective with my mother who is 92 years old.

I love Sandra. She is very patient and she is willing to work with me at my own pace instead of making me feel rushed like I have been before!

Sandra is a great teacher! We are very happy with her instruction.

Mrs. Sandra made the piano introduction process less stressful and more interesting as possible.

We love Ms. Sandra she has shown great knowledge and has been very deligent with our daughter. I can already hear and see the growth in the way she plays.

Sandra makes my lessons with her very productive and enjoyable. She is moving me along at a pace that I am comfortable with that allows me to understand and learn each new concept based on my ability to learn. I always look forward to our sessions.

Sandra has a lot of patience. She is always on time. Goes above and beyond to help students succeed.

My daughter has been taking lessons from Sandra for two years. We are so pleased with her fast progress. Sandra is icing, caring teacher. We highly recommend her.

Sandra fosters a motivation to learn on own between lessons. Thank you!

Sandra was a fantastic instructor for my two children's beginning piano lessons. She was attentive to each of the children's different learning levels and pace. She was also flexible when we needed to alter schedule. I would recommend Sandra.

I was surprised how much I learned on my first lesson. Sandra did not push the information on me, but gave it to me a way that I could learn and retain the data. I am looking forward to my next lesson.

I loved working with Sandra. She was a patient, devoted teacher who really cares about her students and their progress. I highly recommend her as a teacher of piano, as she will be an excellent teacher, and a warm and giving friend. Thank you, Sandra!

Sandra is an excellent teacher. She is so warm and positive and really knows her craft. I look forward to each lesson and highly recommend her to students of any age!

Sandra is an incredible instructor. I have a background in music having been an active member of my school choir since 2nd grade. As an adult I had an interest in returning to music, but this time to learn an instrument. Sandra's lessons were comprehensive, engaging, and extremely helpful. She is an incredible teacher who is both kind and patient, while possessing a keen ear for music. Her skill as both instructor and pianist are undeniable. I strongly recommend Sandra to any student, regardless of age or skill level! She is truly a passionate and engaged instructor who takes deep personal interest in her students.

Sandra has been a wonderful piano teacher for my daughter Ayn. Ayn started taking lessons from Sandra in April this year. Within the short period of time, she has made a lot of progress. Sandra is also a very caring person.
I highly recommend Sandra if you are looking for someone to teach piano.
Thanks,
Ping

Sandra is patient with the kids and appears knowledgeable. I will recommend her for future students.

Sandra H. is a teacher you can rely on to encourage you to perform not only for yourself, but for an audience. I can't remember a lesson day when Ms. Sandra wouldn't tell me, once I had mastered a piece, to play for the church congregation, or to one of her colleagues' open recitals. One specific time, I was asked to play 3 songs for the congregation by someone who heard Ms. Sandra specifically praising my skill. I was told to form a group of 3 total, so I invited a friend and my brother to play the trumpet and the violin, respectively. Ms. Sandra was very encouraging and determined to assist in perfecting the pieces I would do within the week I had to prepare, and I'm certain that without the help, the performance would have been a complete, total disaster. She not only provided a teacher's support - helping me practice the correct rhythm and speed, to name the parts I had trouble with - she also gave me a friend's support, telling me not to allow stage-fright to consume my confidence before I even had a chance to start.
What can I say? She's a great teacher, and cares for her students beyond the borders of the musical world.
Great teacher for beginners and advance
My 4-year daughter has never been to school so I thought it would be a challenge to have her first lessons to be in a PIANO class. But she is doing well because Ms Sandra made it easy and fun for her. At the same time my elder daughter who is more advance had stopped for 3 years. Transision was easy and she is catching up fas because she enjoyed Ms Sandra's lessons. Over all I am very please with her teaching technique. Very passionate in what she's doing. It really shows that her first GOAL is for her students to learn and appreciate good music. I would recommend.
We are very pleased
Sandra has been teaching our daughter for six weeks. She is prompt and very, very understanding with our daughter. She relates well with children and is compassionate, yet firm. She communicates her expectations to both our child and her parents. Our daughter is improving very quickly thanks to Sandra's teaching. We would recommend Sandra without hesitation.
compassionate teacher
Ms Sandra is very compassionate teacher, my 4 and half year old is shy kid but he felt at home with Ms Sandra. At times I thought lessons were challenging but the teacher made it easy to learn as well as provided sufficient challenge to him. She worked with him with his pace of learning and encouraging at times to do more practice. I would recomand her to anyone.
Fun time
My son is having great time learning and new things in every class. Ms Sandra is making it so easy. Thanks to teacher for fun learning.
Hi Sandra-I wanted to drop you a quick note and let you know that Gideon is really enjoying his lessons. I appreciate the feedback that you have provided in his journal. Could you provide me again with the name of the person who could tune the piano... I have misplaced that information. Thanks!
