I'm Sandra. I've worked with hundreds of photographers and designers – from beginners to the best in the business – and in print, online and video formats. I've helped them find their unique route to achieve their potential. I'm quick, honest, easy to understand. I inspire you, I show you steps and help you grow. I can certainly help with technical issues but my focus is on helping you see more – in your images, in your own ability ad in what is possible for you. In teaching college classes, my main student comment is consistent: "I will never look at anything the same way again."

About Sandra E.

If you just want to learn software programs or camera operation, go elsewhere. But if you want to learn to SEE and become a true photographer, Sandra is the coach to work with. Although software and hardware are certainly part of our discussions, software and cameras don't make pictures – you, your eye, and your experience are what make your pictures different and interesting.

Every person's path toward becoming a better photographer is unique. Sandra has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional (and amateur) photographers significantly improve their photography and their enjoyment of it. Working with her, results are quick.

Photographers say that you will get far more out each session with Sandra than from a dozen sessions with others and you will also learn more about yourself and your potential. Just bring your questions, a collection of your pictures and we start from where you are.

Sandra is an internationally respected picture editor and designer with a unique experience that runs from contributions to scores of visual books to editing for the White House, work on major newspapers and the Associated Press. She has worked on all major communications formats, from magazine, newspapers and books to Internet and video. She was instrumental in the creation of the original ground-breaking news site as well as spearheading the creation of the Defense Department's public web program. She has taught photography and editing at three universities and at workshops all over the U.S. and judged multiple national and international photography competitions. But Sandra is still easy to talk to and interested in YOUR concerns and pictures.

Sandra's key skill may be her ability to articulate visual concepts and issues. She can find and convey the underlying needs in a photographer's work and then help him/her find a personal, unique route to reaching his/her potential.

Always fully honest, Sandra is also completely supportive of helping any photographer – from beginner to seasoned professional– become better, see more, and understand their own work on new levels.

Sandra can certainly help with technical matters but her special forte is in helping photographers and designers see in new ways. She has worked with documentary, landscape, fine art, portrait and other photographers as well as designers and website builders.

Group sessions and critiques can also be arranged on request for additional fees. And added time windows can be worked out if the ones you choose aren't a perfect fit for you. We can revise after booking.

There are many people out there that can teach you to snap a picture, but Sandra will help you learn the process of how to create a photograph. That is her strength, along with a gentle touch and her vast experience of working with some of the best photographers in the business. I strongly recommend you reach out to her if you wish to become a better photographer.

I had the great opportunity to work with Sandra. As my photo coach and editor, her insightful suggestions to the way I was approaching my work helped me sharpen my photographic skills and storytelling. Working with Sandra was all about honing my strengths as a photographer but also opening my eyes to other possibilities of storytelling and the craft of photography that helped me overcome my inexperience when creating a photograph.

If your pictures aren’t packin’ the impact you thought (or hoped for) when you pressed the shutter, or, if you can’t figure out how to move to the next level, contact Sandra. I did. And, working with her is a very special and helpful experience.
While working with hundreds of photographers and their images, Sandra has honed an acute ability to spot the potential in you and your pictures. At the same time, she can clearly guide you on how to improve your vision and elevate your photography in a fun, friendly and nonjudgmental way.

Think about it this way. Sandra has had dinner with Ansel Adams. She's worked in the White House three times as a picture editor. She was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize. She loves photography and she loves to look at photographs. And most importantly she loves to work with photographers regardless of their "level". You will learn about your photographs. You will learn about yourself. But don't be intimidated by her background. She is NOT one of those photography guru experts who try to motivate by tearing you down. She builds on where you are as a photographer. Instead of telling you that a photograph is no good she might tell you that "you should be doing more of this type of photograph." Whatever it costs to learn from Sandra is cheap. What you will learn is priceless.

I wish I could give Sandra TEN stars; five are not enough. She's the best! She helped me see my pictures, and the world, in new ways. I was lucky enough to see her work with a variety of photographers, from students just starting out, to professionals who had been working in the field for years. They all had great things to say about her, and how she showed them how to improve their portfolios. Many of them went on to win contests thanks to her teaching. If you want a teacher that is easily approachable and very accessible, has a wonderful sense of humor, and will take you and your photos to a new level, do yourself a favor and contact Sandra. You'll be amazed!
