Music is all around us. Music inspires us. NEW music needs to be played and created by you. I can help you do this! I was born and raised in the vibrant musical culture of New Orleans, Louisiana. Many will argue that New Orleans is the birthplace of Blues, Jazz, and Rock N' Roll. I would second that notion. At a young age, I was immersed in what it meant to play soulful, meaningful music. I am very proud of my New Orleans music heritage, and feel like this is a very indigenous skill set that I can offer you. I enjoy every type of music and have been involved with a variety of bands and recording artists . Whatever you want to learn, (classical, blues, jazz, singer-songwriter, bluegrass, and rock n' roll) I can help you. I have taught lessons on the Guitar (Fingerstyle, acoustic, electric, classical to rock), Bass (Upright and electric), Piano, Voice, Drums, Ukelele, Banjo, Recording techniques, Songwriting, and Music Theory. I spent the majority of the past decade touring and recording with professional bands, including World Leader Pretend which was my rock n' roll band signed to the major label Warner Brothers. Given my New Orleans music heritage and success as a recording artist, I have been lucky enough to be in demand teaching children and adults music lessons for the past 17 years. I studied music at N.O.C.C.A (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts) and Loyola University of New Orleans with an emphasis on Music Therapy and Composition. I enjoy teaching music and will adapt to whatever style and musical interest you desire to learn. *** Lesson Details *** I am an extremely positive and laid back person. I tend to teach concepts that are more about the proper feel of playing music versus technical rigid approaches. Life is like music; it must be composed by ear, feeling, and instinct, not by rule. Regardless of what you play, the biggest thing is keeping the feel going. Music is about feeling, and after you know most of the basics ... chords, rhythm, scales, and theory ... getting that feeling is just about the most important aspect of playing music. I will tailor the curriculum to your needs and desires. *** Studio Equipment *** basic set up w/ some recording equipment w/ seating for parents *** Travel Equipment *** Their own instruments. *** Specialties *** Rock n roll, fingerpicking guitar, analog and digital recording. New Orleans music heritage.
