Samuel de Souza began his piano studies when he was 8 years old, at the age of 14 entering the Music Conservatory D’alva Stella Nogueira de Freire, in the Joabe Willamys' studio, and at the age of 16, he entered the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in the studio of Prof. Dr. Durval Cesetti. Samuel was granted several scholarships during his undergraduate as a collaborative pianist and also had the opportunity to be an assistant researcher on piano pedagogy under Dr. Tarcísio Gomes Filho advisement. Samuel was able to be mentored by great names nationally and internationally, such as: Paul Rutman (University of Hartford), Cristian Budu (Brazil), Max Barros (New York), Andre Rangel (State University of São Paulo), Markus Stange (Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe), Álvaro Siviero (Brazil), Evgeny Rivkin (University of Georgia), Mattias Manassi (German), Garnet Ungar (University of Evansville), Roberto Domingos (Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe), Paulina Zamora (University of Chile), Luciane Cardassi (Federal University of Bahia), Ana Maria Otamendi (University of Houston) Tarcísio Gomes Filho (Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte), José Henrique Martins (Federal University of Paraíba) and Gisele Pires (University of Brasília). He was the first prize winner of the XXI Eleazar de Carvalho Young Soloists Competition in the piano category, participated in the II, III and IV Internacional Piano Festival of Natal, in the IV International Piano Pedagogy meeting, in the XXIII Eleazar de Carvalho Week and in the XXI and XXII Eleazar de Carvalho Festival. In the XXI Eleazar de Carvalho Festival, he stood out as a piano student and was invited by the pianist Paul Rutman to participate in the XXIII Eleazar de Carvalho Week, held at concert hall Sala São Paulo, as a guest student. In 2020, Samuel met Professor Dr. Diego Caetano and in 2021 was accepted with a full scholarship to attend the master’s degree at Sam Houston State University (Houston, TX). Currently, he is part of Dr. Caetano’s studio and teaches piano at the Academy of Fine Arts Jaime Lourenço.
