About Samantha H. L.

As a teacher I encourage my students to develop a strong technical foundation, a keen sense of the body in relationship to the voice, an appreciation for the art form, and a deep appreciation for their unique artistic expression. To reach these goals I will incorporate the following methods into my lessons: a technical and mind to body based warm-up that each student will commit to memory, an educated and informed process that each student may use to take with them to their artistic endeavors (other studios, auditions, jobs, etc.), and exercises that will be based in creative improvisation and collaboration.

Recently, I have done workshops with the following professionals:

Merri Sugarman and Claire Burke—Tara Rubin Casting

Chad Eric Murnane—Binder Castin

Barry Shapiro—Herman & Lipson Casting

Victor Vasquez—X Casting

I have recently just finished my Honors Senior Thesis Project on Resilience and have been honored to receive praise from many professionals, including John Caird, Stephen Schwartz, and Michael Cole.

I have been studying voice, dance, and theater since the age of six. A Pittsburgh native and music theatre major, I have had the opportunity of performing with many regional theaters including the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Prime Stage Theater, and Front Porch Theatricals. In addition to these credits, Samantha has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra andTony-Award Winning, Billy Porter.
