Violin with Sakinah C.

I was 10 years old when I started playing the violin. At the time, I was not able to afford an instrument and wasn't able to borrow one. So I had to sit in class and watch and learn through the book until one was assigned to me a few months later. It was fair to say I was behind. But the way the violin sounded, the rhythm I felt in my heart when I heard various Sonatas and other solos playing I discovered my love for this instrument. My Idol was violin soloist, Joshua Bell. And the first time our class took a field trip to the Kansas City Symphony to watch him rehearse, I worked and studied harder to play like him and ended up perfecting Vibrato watching him. From there, my love and deep understanding of the violin made me want learn more about stringed instruments and in middle school I was taught how to play the cello. Mastering both, I took private lessons in both middle school and high school. I received 1 ratings in both District and State Championships several years in a row. I have 13 years experience playing stringed instruments. My love for music and wanting to share that love, watching the teachers I had that were so dear to me and pushed me to be my best, inspired me. It inspired me to want to be a Music Teacher and share what I learned on my own and what I was taught. And to help others master the skills necessary to be ALL they can be.
