I am a professional pianist and and instructor at Merrimack College, with 10 years of teaching and 20 years of performing experience. I will give you answers to any and all of your piano-related questions and help you take your piano skills and music knowledge to the next level. I teach anywhere from 45-minute to 90-minute lessons, for all ages.

With any level of student, I can quickly analyze their greatest strengths and use them to design a customized plan for progress. My lifelong performance career and teaching experience have shown me the best ways to help students break through challenges in their study.

Seeing the "aha" moment a student figures out how to do something they never thought possible - is one of the greatest joys in my teaching, and serves as an inspiration for my own playing, as well.

I cannot recommend Sam enough as a piano teacher. He is patient and sympathetic, but also knew exactly when to push me to look for more in the music. He is great at explaining and demonstrating technical concepts, and his musicianship is a clear example of what a student should aspire to. I had a particularly inspiring lesson on a Chopin Prelude in which he showed me how to manage the awkward fingerings and pedaling, and then moved on to finding the most expression in the music.
