Thank you for taking the first step in your musical pursuits. I am a professional music educator and trumpet player with close to 25 years of teaching experience. I graduate Cum Laude from CSU-Northridge with a Bachelor's in Music Education. My focus is first and foremost on building a characteristic tone, building on a foundation of sound breathing. My aim is to make sure students are playing with a sound set up enabling them to succeed immediately and in the long term. I studied trumpet with Roy Poper (now at Oberlin Conservatory of Music) whose philosophy and methodology serves as the basis for my approach with students. This has been successful with students of all ages and abilities as well as my school music students. As a player, I have played or worked with jazz musicians Claudio Roditi, Pete Christlieb, Conte Candoli, Greg Karukas, Buddy Collette, and Ron King. I continue to play and hone my skills as an instrumentalist and teacher. I also work as a music copyist for several songwriters and composers. I am comfortable in all styles of music and can assists students with standard classical repertoire as well as develop skills in jazz including improvisation. I am able to do both video/online lessons (especially during Covid 19 protocols) as well as in person (when Covid 19 protocols have been lifter) for students who are local to Santa Monica, CA. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your musical goals and aspirations!!! *** Student Equipment *** The student must provide their own instrument, music stand, instrument care supplies and any books/music that end up being used in the lessons.
