My lessons are laid back, fun, and practical. You develop the goals you want to achieve by pursuing a subject, and we tackle it and go after them together.
English as a foreign language and beginner to intermediate German are my specialties. I love English and I love language. I studied German at the University of Michigan and understand the difficulties that can come with learning or improving language skills. I lived in Germany two times, once for six months and again for a year, and spent a couple months living in Peru. These experiences taught me that learning a language is best done in two ways: with native speakers, and with full immersion. This is the philosophy I bring to my lessons.
As for US history, if you're interested in learning a lot of things they didn't teach you in school then I'm your guy. Areas that are especially fun for me: Colonial history, Imperial Crisis & American Revolution, the Blundering Generation and the Civil War they caused, and the Second World War.
If you are interested in hearing more about my lessons and teaching philosophy, just drop me a line.
I am very excited to go on this journey with you!!
I worked in Germany as an English Teaching Assistant at a Gymnasium (5th-12th grade). I assisted the English faculty with lesson development and in class teaching. I often led classes on my own, worked with individual students to improve their proficiency, and led a conversation course after school.+ Read More
I worked in Cusco, Peru as a volunteer English teacher for two months. The school I worked at never had an English teacher before so I helped them develop a system and schedule for students of all grades (2nd-5th) to have lessons.
