Hi! My name is Ryan. I was born in the SF Bay Area, and started writing music at age 8. At age 12 I went to the recording studio for the first time and fell in love! I have a formal music education from the City College of New York in jazz performance. During my time at CCNY, I held down a weekly gig at the now defunct St. Nick's Pub in Harlem, where I was fortunate enough to perform with and watch many musical greats, including Arlene Talley (Isley Brothers), Dennis Davis (Stevie Wonder, David Bowie), the Gregory Porter band (2014 Grammy winners). Since then, I have written and recorded for Grammy winning singer Maya Azucena, written and produced music for shows on TVone, Bravo; and music for a Sundance Film Festival selection as well as other films including a 2016 LA Film Fest selection. I have performed over 250 gigs in my 28 years, and I live and breathe all music. As someone who initially was opposed to taking lessons as a child, my approach revolves around making sure that we ENJOY the process of improving!

I worked with an the Renaissance EMS after-school program, teaching 5th to 8th grade at three locations in the Bronx. Classes involved music notation, songwriting, gaining playing time on Bass, Guitar, Drums, and Keyboard, and had up to 20 students. Good times!
I've been taking lessons with Ryan for about 6 months and my experience has been really fun! He is encouraging and keeps me motivated by showing me how "wrong notes" can be translated into creative melodies. I would highly recommend Ryan as a teacher!+ Read More
