I want you or your child to love and enjoy music as much as I do! No two people learn in exactly the same way so I like to work with my students to establish their own personal goals and cater my lessons to those goals. I also am a big advocate of teaching people to play by ear using ear training methods combined with music reading skills and music theory.

About Rusty H.

I started playing Bass for my church at the age of 17. After graduating High School I Started purusing a degree in Theatre & Vocal Performance at Central Arizona College. I was selected twice to compete in the KCACTF based on performances in musicals and was accepted into the Advanced Jazz Choir in my first semester.

I switched my major to Recording Engineering and began to learn guitar and drums. I started playing in bands in 2010 at the age of 20 and played in Reggae, Punk, Jazz, Ska, Pop, and Country bands.

In 2018 I became a Manager at Music & Arts and was in charge of hiring and managing lesson programs. During that time I've had access to the best teachers Phoenex has to offer and took lessons with many of them to study advanced guitar and music theory concepts.

I consider myself an intermediate guitar player. I know a few chords, and have learned a few songs, but I didn’t really understand how to improvise. Rusty is a great teacher and has really helped me understand various aspects of music theory. I have definitely improved as a guitarist and a musician. I highly recommend Rusty for all skill levels

Taught my granddaughter guitar twice a week for around 6 months and he was great. He even helped us pick out a guitar for her birthday that she fell in love with because it was purple. She can even play by ear now! We also loved going to see him perform, he has a fantastic voice an a big presence on stage! She'd still be doing lessons with him now if we had the time!

Rusty is great with my son! He was able to play along with some of his favorite songs after only a few lessons! He's also really good about communicating with my wife and I about the lesson plan and what he needs to practice.

Rusty is awesome! He was incredibly supportive and explained things in a way that really made sense. When I wanted to give up he was always really encouraging!
