Hi! I've been playing guitar since I was 14 years, but my first instrument was the saxophone which I still play. I received my bachelors in Music from the University of Houston in 2014 and my Masters in 2017. My guitar playing encompasses all styles and genres, from classical, jazz, rock, Latin and tejano music. With my academic background in music I have solid foundation in theory and ear training as well as basic piano. Since I am familiar with the necessary repertoire in guitar literature, my students will be prepared to pass auditions from high school level band to college requirements for freshman entry. I have performed in various bands from the area, Houston and Austin and have over 20 years of experience as a professional musician. My students will develop the basic skills needed to build a musical foundation for further advancement. Intermediate students will focus on a more rigorous lesson plan such as reading, ear training and basic music theory. More advanced students will learn improvisation and learning songs to expand their repertoire for both performance and college entrance. As an instructor, I strive to establish a student/teacher relationship, in this manner a healthy environment for musical advancement is achieved. Most importantly, the experience of a lesson should be fun and rewarding for both student and teacher. I look forward to give you the same experiences and advice that my instructors gave me as a student.
