Roel is a professional guitar and bass musician based in Boston, MA. While Roel devoted his youth to exploring rock- and blues-adjacent genres, he is currently expanding his horizons by studying jazz performance and composition at the world-renowned Berklee College of Music. Roel lives to be an educator -- his life goal is to become a university-level music instructor -- and he has amassed over 1500 hours of teaching experience. From students taking their first steps into reading and playing music, to advanced students seeking to take their technique and compositional skills to the next level, Roel has helped dozens of students achieve their goals. Roel deeply understands the joys and frustrations that come with learning new techniques, and he strives to be both empathetic and progress-oriented.

Roel deeply appreciates the unique journey that each student must take to achieve their goals. His curriculum is open ended and flexible, aiming to help students become stronger players in the genres of their choice. In parallel, he believes in the value of a strong music theory foundation and teaches students why their favorite genre is so compelling.

Are you a Ted Greene fan? Look no further, Roel is your guy. He's a master at chord melodies and helped me learn the entire fretboard for the first time in my life.

Roel was a GOD at single-note bebop lines and really whipped me into shape. I auditioned for my first gig last month and totally bagged it! Thanks dude.

Picking a new guitar is always a gamble, but I'm glad I took the plunge! I had been studying jazz since I was young, and I needed someone with a good ear to help me get to the next level. I must have been really lucky, since Roel absolutely fit the bill. Not only was he fun to work with, but he was also highly skilled -- I could tell he had put in his thousand hours.

I have been taking lessons with Roel for years, and I have to say that he is so easy to work with. He manages to strike a perfect balance between being really chill and really professional. Even if I weren't his student, I would certainly be his friend!

Roel was an awesome coach! I needed someone to keep me accountable while I learned a new piece and he went above and beyond. Not only did he help me learn the difficult parts, but he also pointed out details in my musicality that I wasn’t even aware of. Thanks!

I'm an older student, and I worried that wouldn't be able to connect with Roel. But he was professional and talented beyond his years. I told my friends all about him and they're thinking about starting lessons too.

Roel came to each session fully prepared, having already learned the pieces I brought to him the week before. He was also very flexible scheduling-wise, which was great since I have an unpredictable schedule.

I took a few college courses on music theory but they never quite helped me learn how to actually write rock music. ROEL SAVED THE DAY. He had such a strong grasp of what makes music tick, and by the end of our sessions together I was composing songs much more fluidly.

Roel was the best music teacher I've ever had! Friendly and warm. Always turned my mistakes into learning experiences and pointed out little details in my play style that I had never noticed before. Highly recommend!!!!

I never leave reviews but Roel deserves a major kudos. I was nervous about starting lessons, especially since the teachers I had growing up were kind of mean, but Roel was truly professional while also being SUPER NICE. We worked on a few rock songs that I had put off for years, and I can confidently say that I've crossed them off the bucket list. You go dude!
