I'm a musician by trade, a music teacher by profession. Music is a great art form. I play a few instruments, but my main instrument is the guitar. Music performance is a fantastic form of fun which is part of playing a musical instrument - you must learn how to play a musical instrument before you can perform well with it. These two elements go hand in hand, and it is my desire to help my students understand this, and ultimately help them achieve this musical goal - playing a musical instrument well, and perform with it. I have been teaching since right out of high school some twenty-five years ago. My teaching career started at the college level where I had a privilege of tutoring college students computer software and hardware courses. My music teaching career started shortly after receiving an equivalent of a minor degree in music from the University of South Florida. My four-year degree is in Psychology and my graduate degree is in Criminal Justice. I love to teach what I have learn from others, from participating in college level studies, from performing live with other performers to other motivated beginning musicians so that their experiences may become a lot more lasting, fruitful, and encouraging. *** Lesson Details *** The student should expect learning how to become self-disciplined, have fun while learning a musical instrument, and have their questions answered with examples and language they can understand. The lessons will be laid back, because there is no reason to stress out about learning how to play a musical instrument. Dedication, however, will be expected because without it not much can be achieved. I use music books designed to help the student understand the basics about music and their instrument of interest. Supplemental materials will be supplied according to the desire and time the student may show throughout each lesson. Depending on much time and effort the student puts into his/her instrument, the student should be able to play their first full song within two weeks. *** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio lessons are taught in a separate studio (20x20), with a drum set, guitars, keyboard, music stands, amps. 1 cat in home but not in studio. *** Travel Equipment *** I provide guitars/bass and amplification, keyboards, microphone and a PA, music stands, personalized educational materials, courtesy and dedication to the clients' musical education career. *** Specialties *** My goal is to produce results at the personal level because not every client is the same, and not two clients learn the same way. This is an important view point on personal education because without the existence of a personal educational program, the student may not take full advantage of the personal/private lessons. I specialize in Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock/Hard Rock/Metal/Pop, Jazz, Blues, Alternative/Rock Country, and Latin. Depending on the age of the student, I implement theatrics and fun methods of delivery.
