Master of Music in Performance-Cello

Learn to play cello beautifully at your own pace.

My cello students are amazing! I have been teaching cello lessons for over 20 years and I teach all ages and all levels. I am dedicated to finding the best way to teach each student based on their current ability and learning style. I have started cellists and have seen them become incredible musicians...for their own enjoyment and for future development. I have also taken on students at an intermediate and advanced level and helped them achieve their goals for auditions and recitals. I enjoy training all of my students for orchestra, chamber music, solo playing as well as current popular genres.

    About Robin H.

I am a classically trained performer and have plenty of pop music experience as well. I have studied with the some of the top cellists in the U.S. and Germany. Additionally, I have studied with leading pedagogy professors for my work with young children. I have taught private cello lessons for over 20 years and have infused all I have learned from my teachers into my teaching style. I enjoy discovering how each student learns best and work from their level. One of my ‘super-powers” is assuring that all of my students to have confidence in our work together. If a student is feeling like they are not progressing, I point to myself. Whether it is because I am not conveying my directives efficiently or that I am not inspiring them to practice. I believe proper teaching is the key to a students’ progress. That is not to say I teach every student the same way…on the contrary! I have learned that everyone has a different way to learn. That is why I feel confident teaching neurotypical students, neurodivergent students and students who have simply started later in life. I perform as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player and have experience teaching these styles of playing. I am a member of the Youngstown Symphony, the Butler County Symphony and a solo artist I was named an "Emerging Artist of 2018" by the American League of Symphony Orchestras magazine. My performing gives me great insight into preparing students for auditions all other types of performing. As a pop artist, I perform with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra string section and have shared a stage with Josh Groban, Sarah McLachlan and Michael Bublé, Evanescence and Il Volo. It has been with this experience that I am able to work with students on an array of musical styles.
