As a lover of a broad range of styles of music and a guitar player since I was fourteen, I’ve developed an intense desire to share my knowledge with others. I started teaching friends formally in college and began professionally after graduating college. My approach is to get the student to learn guitar through the music that they love. I learn what music they like and then craft lesson plans using that information. With this approach, I can inject aspects of music that may sometimes seem more sterile into lessons without the student becoming overwhelmed. It’s important to me that students have fun and enjoy playing their instrument so that they don’t become turned off to the process of learning.
A Columbia based school started by my mentor of the same name Robert Newton.
