About Robert L.

I have worked professionally in theater, film, radio, television, & children’s theater, as actor, director, manager, & producer for many years. For 15 years I was the Owner and Director of Theatre Arts Center NY – a professionally-based NYC training program for young performers. The school included three areas – Musical Theatre and Dance Intensive, Actors Conservatory, and Vocal Performance. The program attracted talented students from throughout the Metro region, throughout the U.S. and internationally.

I have been teaching acting and coaching for the past 18 years. I am a Guest Teaching Artist and several state thespians festivals throughout the U.S., including Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, and Ohio. I will be a Guest Teaching Artist at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska in June 2019. I taught acting in Bucks County, PA for 12 years. My students have been on Broadway and beyond and accepted to prestigious performing arts schools.

My professional career in show business began as an actor, singer, & dancer. NYC Acting credits range from the internationally acclaimed LaMama to many Off & Off-Off Broadway shows. Regional credits include Gateway Playhouse (NY); Tibbits Opera (Michigan); Rodale/Pennsylvania Stage; Ensemble Studio Theater (Catskills); Italian- American Theatre Company of Rome. Film appearances include Scorsese’s Last Temptation of Christ (filmed in Morocco), Goodfella’s, Night of the Zombies, and Annie (singer/dancer).

As a Producer, I have a wide range of experience, including Broadway: Director of Development Circle in the Square; Associate Producer – Enchanted April (Tony nominations), and Director of Development – Yo-Yo Ma’s Silkroad Project at SONY Music International.

I am a member the Screen Actors Guild / American Federation of TV & Radio Artists, and Actors Equity Association. I am a professional member of the Educational Theatre Association.

Robert hired me while I was in college and I worked for him for three summers in a row. Not only did I get to watch him teach and inspire a wide age range of students day after day, but I got to learn from him myself. Robert has the kind of passion for theater that carries into whatever he's doing. You can see it in his teaching, you see it in his mentoring, and you see it when he watches his students perform. Robert knows exactly how to talk to a student, in a way that is both compassionate and honest. He has an incredible talent for getting the people around him to be excited about their craft and driven to work hard. One of the things I most enjoyed about learning from him, is that he doesn't sugar coat things. He tells you exactly what it is you need to work on but he does it from the perspective of someone who supports you and believes in you fully. I'm grateful for the theater experience he gave me years ago and I credit him for much of my success today.
