I hold a degree from Berklee College of Music with guitar as my principle instrument, as well as many years of study at The New England Conservatory, have taught privately for over twenty years, have a comfortable studio in The Upper East Side (with many guitars to choose from) and have excellent recommendations. Whether it is pop, jazz, blues or classical guitar, I provide the most comprehensive instruction available and I do it with encouragement, enthusiasm and passion. Most importantly, I am patient, energized and enjoy watching my students develop into excellent guitarists.
Excellent. My daughter has improved tremendously in a very short time. She loves the lessons.
Robert is a great teacher. I highly recommend.
TOTALLY NOT IMPRESSED. Instructor was extremely disorganized. Lessons had no structure. Instructor scattered and even missed a lesson, leaving me outside. I informed of a cancellation with 1 day notice and instructor informed me he would charge me for the lesson and I should look for another teacher. SO VERY TRUE!+ Read More
Robert has been an incredible teacher for my 5 year old! My son has no previous instrument experience but Rob's been extremely encouraging and patient with him. In just two classes I see tremendous growth and motivation in my boy as he slowly discovers his passion and potential. We will be definitely signing up for more classes!+ Read More
I've only had one lesson with Rob so far, but it's clear that it's going to be a great experience. Rob was enthusiastic, supremely knowledgable, and just fun to learn with. I'll be sure to submit another review after we've had a few lessons.+ Read More
Robert has sparked a renewed interest in my guitar playing, and pursuing music as a hobby. I have been looking for a spark to advance my playing to a higher level, and Roberts lessons have truly helped me do that. I have been taking lessons with him for almost 4 months and can definitely hear and feel a difference in my playing. More importantly, I know I will continue to grow leaps and bounds while following Roberts music lessons down the line. The cross disciplinary approach definitely works well for me, and I have been enjoying learning music in different genres (of jazz, rock, and classical). It then quickly becomes apparent that each piece of music and lesson detail fits well to advance your technical skills and further your abilities on the guitar.
As stated in other reviews, Robert is very patient and easy to work with. Highly recommended.
I've had four lessons with Robett so far and what a difference I can see in my skill level. Robert has been great in teaching me a fun and interesting way of learning guitar. Can't wait to continue my path on learning the guitar with Robert.
My daughter loves playing with Rob. She looks forward to her lesson every wk and is motivated to practice everyday.
I've been taking lessons with Rob for over a year and I can safely say that my knowledge of the guitar and technique have improved leaps and bounds from where I started. He's an excellent teacher who can quickly adapt to your playing ability and fill in the gaps, blending theory and application. He's also an easy going dude who won't chop your head off if you forget to practice. I might add he's an accomplished painter and able mandolin player. The dude's got skills. If you really want to learn guitar, schedule with Rob. You Can't Miss!+ Read More
This was my first session with Rob. I'm a beginner and was a bit intimidated with the idea of sitting at the feet of a pro. The guy was (is) terrific! He took the time to understand what I was capable of doing and my limitations and then had me take a 'journey" that got me confident and excited about what I might be able to do someday. Solid 5 stars. He's my guy!+ Read More
I have been taking lessons with Rob for over 18 months and can easily say it was the best music related decision I've made since deciding to pick up the guitar as a kid. I'd been playing for about 16 years when I decided to try taking lessons again after feeling like I had really plateaued. I was sick of playing the same stuff and having no understanding as to why it worked.
Rob and I immediately hit if off when we started working together and after accepting the fact that I needed to learn to read music to take the next step, Rob quickly got me into site reading and working on jazz and classical pieces. Taking lessons with Rob requires work and an interest in learning to read and understand music. If you are open to those challenges working with Rob will most certainly improve your playing and broaden your appreciation for music as a whole.
Rob is great for adults and professionals because he has been there himself - he gets busy weeks, being stressed out and all that.
Lastly, Rob has an exquisite collection of instruments that make showing up to lessons a joy because I don't have to carry any equipment and I know I am playing quality, well set-up instruments.
