RAISE YOUR VOICE! Sadly, no one cares about what you have to say unless you make them care. Teachers don't really want to read your essays; employers look for reasons to discard your application; potential customers skip right through the "about" section on your web page. Give them an excuse--a cliche, a grammatical error, a phrase they've heard a thousand times--and they're gone. I don't have a bag of vitality tricks. It's not that easy. What I do have is twenty-five years' experience teaching writing at major universities and a lifetime of experience in speech and theatre.
