I have been teaching on and off for about 25 years. as my recording career permits. For the past 8 years or so, steady in my home studio. My teaching style is based on years of experience and influences. I have combined approaches of teaching styles and knowledge from some of the top Jazz guitarists in the world to create my own method. I combine the technique of Blues, Rock, & Jazz with ear training, helping a student to easilly recognizing chord changes in order to learn songs off a recording, instead of just copying other guitarists. Students gain the understanding of what they're playing in order to also be creative. Not only is this great for the beginner but anyone who is interested in going to music college or embarking on a professional music career. I love to see look on their faces, and the progress of students as they get better and better. It brings them such joy! They all say to me, "Why don't they teach it this way?"

    Experience

    Composer/multi-instrumentalist

    Jan, 1986 - Present

    Rob Lavery

My long career and passion for music has given me an unique understanding of teaching. I have been called a savant and my musical life started young playing violin at age 6, drums at 7, picked up the guitar at 8 and piano at 10. I cut my Freshman year in High School to play Frank Zappa's music with 30 year old's and already had my first serious band and was performing regularly in clubs with “Meridian”, a 6-piece jazz fusion band Featuring Frankie Valli’s daughter, Francine on Vocals. I then went on to land the 1986 “Electra Records Undiscovered Artist of the Year Award, by Composing, arranging and performing all instruments on entry, “Sparks”. After that Columbia Records recording artists, The Burns Sisters Band, picked me up as their lead guitarist. During my term, The Burns Sisters Band, had 2 hits. “Listen to the Beat of a Heart” charted #11 nationwide on adult contemporary radio and “I Wonder Who’s Out Tonight” top ten hit on many radio stations across the country. I opened shows for bands like; Huey Lewis & The News, Govt. Mule, Stray Cats, Orleans, John Cafferty, Billy Squire and the Psychedelic Furs among others. I then went on to Composing, music for movies such as, MGM film “Crooked Hearts” and John Candy’s film “Delirious”. Now this recent CD release, "Solo Journey" has just recently been released.
