Rob Cournoyer. Where to begin... I was 17 years old when I had started taking lessons from Rob. It was my senior year of high school and after hitting a wall after years of being self-taught, began studying at Hoffman's Music in Houma (my hometown) with a man named Troy Percle. After awhile, Troy told me that if I wanted to go to Berklee, I should look up this guy, who had just begun teaching in Houma. So, I did and from lesson number one, I learned so much. New concepts, new methods, new ideas. But also, Rob was gracious enough to share his worldly experiences with me, a teenager with dreams of grandeur, and through his teaching, helped me to be prepared for the reality that comes with being a working musician. It is work, it will be hard. But it is what you love. Like Tony Williams once said,"We play because we must." Rob is the embodiment of that statement. Long story short, Rob helped me prepare an audition piece for my Berklee scholarship audition and sure enough, they offered me a substantial amount of money to attend their school, which I had been dreaming of going to since I was 12 years old. He helped a big dream of mine come true. I studied with him until I moved out of Houma and up to Boston. Today, I am a working drummer in Nashville and can honestly say that one of the true highlights of my education, was having Rob as a teacher. Not only of drumming, but of life. You would be doing yourself a tremendous service to have Rob Cournoyer be your teacher. Thank you, Rob. I am happy to be able to call him a former teacher and a present friend.+ Read More
Rob, has been instructing our 11 year old son for the past couple of years. He is easily the best music instructor I have seen. His passion for music and drums keeps our son excited about his lessons. He teaches in a fun but organized approach that does not overwhelm our son. Our son's improvement after every lesson is very noticeable. I recommend Rob unconditionally. Our son also highly recommends Rob.+ Read More
Rob has been teaching drums to my 14 year old son for about 2 years. He is an incredible teacher and it is amazing how far along my son has come since he started working with him. Rob has a friendly and easy going personality that allows kids to feel comfortable with him. My son has been playing drums for about 5 years and since he started with Rob his drumming ability has gone to a whole new level. Rob has taught my son many different styles including rock, blues, jazz, samba and so much more. Rob is a very talented drummer, a great teacher and just an all around great guy. I would recommend him to anyone looking for lessons.+ Read More

The amount of pros such as Rob in the U.S. is so small you could count them on one hand. Impeccable credentials, from his formal training at arguably the best music school in this country, to an all-star list of projects & rocks stars he's been involved with that is truly mind-blowing. Couple those things with a guy that is mild-mannered, patient, & just plain 'good people' & you have Rob. I cannot recommend Rob enough, truly world-class behind, in front, & sitting beside a kit teaching students.+ Read More
