    About Rob B.

What I Teach: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Beginning Piano, Improvisation, Music Theory. Music Recording, Songwriting, Composition, Film scoring, Orchestration About Me: I was raised in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, California and began studying classical piano at the age of six. During my formative years, I was accepted into the citywide honor Orchestra as a clarinetist and later performed jazz guitar with the Loyala Marrymount Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Buddy Collette. I studied Jazz Composition and Guitar Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, under the department chair and later went on to complete my studies in classical composition, ethnomusicology and theory at UC Berkeley. I am a talented composer and arranger of orchestral and commercial music, and work in film scoring, producing and audio engineering when I'm not teaching music. My recent credits include a number of intriguing short films including “Threshold,” Directed by Rouzbeh Rakhsha. This international, art house gem received its second premier at the Cannes Short Film Festival in 2012. "Stunning, like liquid mercury" has been the description of my guitar performance. I have performed at such well-known LA jazz venues as Billy Higgins's The World Stage, Fifth Street Dicks and the Watts Summer Festival. I also enjoy playing rock, heavy metal music funk and teach private and group lessons. I have donated my time to teaching free guitar lessons to under-served kids and perform regularly in church worship groups. I hold an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from WLAC and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from UC Berkeley and teach both private and group lessons. *** Lesson Details *** I teach Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Beginning Piano, Improvisation, Music Theory.
