Hi I'm Rick and in your lesson you will learn:
The fundamentals of good trumpet playing. You will learn not just what to practice, but how to practice. I will help you with breathing and how to use your air effectively. You will learn how to develop a great sound - your sound. I will help you improve your range, flexibility, and endurance. You will develop new skills, build on your existing ones, learn new songs, and have more fun playing trumpet.
When we first meet, I will want to hear you play - just to see where your playing is at - and we’ll talk - do you have specific goals?, what do you want to learn? This will give us a good starting point.
I welcome students of all ages and abilities, from absolute beginner to aspiring professional. Schedule your lesson now. I offer a wide variety of booking days and times to accommodate everyone's schedule. I hope to see you soon. - Rick

Rick is an outstanding trumpet player and teacher. Highly recommended...

I met Rick over 25 years ago when I moved to Honolulu while touring with Paul Anka. Rick and I became fast friends and played many jobs together ranging from classical to big band to Broadway to backing up the Temptations and Johnny Mathis. His wide range of experience across all styles of trumpet playing would be a huge asset to any student. His easygoing demeanor is a plus for being a great teacher.

After touring with Tom Jones for ten years, I moved to Hawaii, where I met Rick. Many times for many years, we would practice together. During those sessions, we would critique and discuss each others' playing. Rick was always very good at assessing what I was doing, and was consistently able to put into words what I needed to hear. We were in essence, giving each other lessons, and I gained a lot from Rick's expertise.
