My Teaching: I love to teach music to all ages, and have taught hundreds of students in the last 15 years. What you can expect from me is a clear, patient, and understanding teacher who is able to able to meet you where you are on your musical journey, and assist you to expand your knowledge and mastery of the instrument, usually having a lot of fun along the way. I am very comfortable even with teens who know what they want to learn, as well as absolute beginners and kids who need %100 guidance in there practice. I really enjoy students who come to me with some experience and want to learn songs that they love. I enjoy teaching music theory as well as reading, but do not require it. I am an expert at teaching classic Rock and funk, Jazz Standards, Blues and Pop. From the Chili Peppers, to George Benson, to Taylor Swift etc.... My education and background: 1)Music composition and technology BA. from UC San Diego. 2)Jazz guitar and music theory credential from the Berklee college of music in Boston 3) Noted student of guitar great Tuck Andress from the group "Tuck & Patti". 4) Produced and recorded several albums, including for Miles Copeland (Sting) on his Ark21 label. Albums I have produced and recorded include "Shabaz" "Dreaming the Diaspora", "Voices of Spheres" and "Sufi Folk and Love Songs", all can be found on I-Tunes. 5) Performed for 4 years in Casino showrooms in Nevada and beyond for the variety band "Brian and the Dominoes". 6) Son in law and student of North Indian classical music legend Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. All of this background enables me to effectively meet the student at his or her level, and easily guide them towards expertise in the direction they are seeking. *** Lesson Details *** Every student is different and I will guide them into reaching there musical goals even if they are not sure what they are at first. Technique on the instrument of basic importance to the process, but I do not force techniques that are too uncomfortable or unnatural. I am very happy to say I can effectively work with beginning through advanced students. I outline what the student needs to practice at the end of the lesson, and expect some progress to be made to that end at the start of the following session. Depending on the student I use a few different learning manuals, and typically supplement the book with printed handouts and hand written tabs or scale sheets etc.. I encourage while building a strong set of basic skills, and developing creativity." In time, I can guide the student to compose, and record there own music as well. *** Studio Equipment *** Dedicated Music Room and recording studio in home, student can borrow guitar for the lesson if needed. *** Travel Equipment *** I travel with my own equipment and lesson materials. *** Specialties *** I am well qualified to teach pop, rock,, folk, and jazz styles. I do specialize in World Music, but I don't get as many students interested in this more exotic direction.
