I can take any student to the pro level within a year with my unique color-coded methods. I was educated at Interlochen Arts Academy, near Traverse City, Michigan. I taught the bass player for LeVert how to play keyboards with LeVert. His name was Mike Ferguson. If you want to be a star and you are willing to work, I can get you there too. On the other hand whatever age you are, if this is just a hobby for you I can definitely help you to enjoy it.
If you love jazz improvisation, I can show you how to navigate the Real Book & if you want to play with a band I will show you how.
I now have an internet compatible color scanner and printer. Its a bit like having an electronic blackboard for the lessons. Ask me about what that can mean for us!
I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Great first lesson really enjoyed Richards time look forward to the next lesson
Richard was awesome. I had a wonderful 1st lesson with him and look forward to many more!!!
Richard is incredible. I've learned more and can play better in 1 month than I did with other teachers in 5 months. I can already play simple songs! He teaches in a very natural way and it really does make a world of difference, especially for us adults. He is extremely knowledgeable in all the different play styles and methods of teaching them, and his responsiveness is unparalleled when you're stuck on something between lessons.Show More

Richard has been very patient with my 8 year old. He makes sure my daughter understands the lesson and always gives her homework to work on to show him the next week. He is tuning in to her love for playing the piano! She looks forward to her lessons every week.Show More

Richard truly enjoys teaching music theory. He has given me so far a better understanding of how music is related to our feelings and moods. I hope to take what he gives me and further my knowledge to playing by ear and improvising on piano.
My first lesson was fantastic, terrific, well self explanatory, I enjoyed,Richard is a very good & patience instructor,am a beginner, and I'm already amazed with what I learn. Looking forward to my next class.
Rich is very patient and knowledgeable about piano and easy to work with.
Richard's color system works great to conceptualize moods expressed on the keyboard. I enjoyed my first lesson very much!
Richard is a very patient teacher. He is wise and experienced. He is able to support individuals at a variety of levels of instructional need.
Rick didn't just arrange songs for my lyrics. He got me writing the songs myself for the words and tunes in my head. I'm using chord progressions I thought I'd never master!
Very experienced. Was able to get me playing and keep me interested.
Rick is a very good teacher. His knowledge of music theory is outstanding. He knows how to teach drills & technique so that you not only understand the theory behind the music, but you know how to play it as well! I recommend him wholeheartedly.
