*** Lesson Details ***
The goal of music lessons is not to just learn the notes and mechanics of an instrument, but to become a well-rounded MUSICIAN. With my lessons, we don't just go through a book page-by-page, rather, lessons are shaped around the musical tastes and interests of the student. Musical theory concepts are applied in actual songwriting and current popular songs. I accompany the students on various instruments, imitating a real performance situation. I teach all ages; beginners to advanced musicians.
Unlike a crowded music store with a cramped little room for lessons, my lessons are taught in a large, open, and well-lit home studio. There is an open waiting area where parents can listen as well. Parking is convenient on a cul-de-sac with a clear view into the teaching studio.

Great teacher! Let's the student move at their own pace and finds fun ways to challenge them.
I am so thankful we found Rich! With my own degree in piano performance, everyone thinks I should teach my daughter myself. But with Rich she is not only learning how to read music, but how to play by ear and improv. She loves him cause he's so "chill" and is always positive with her. Couldn't ask for a better teacher!+ Read More

I've always wanted to learn to play the guitar but it's was a bit difficult finding the time or focus to learn. Rich was great! Full of patience, support, and talent. He always made me feel comfortable & accommodated my schedule. His patience & reassurance made me feel confident with my personal progress. Several times I arrived early & witnessed him instructing other adults & children of all ages. He's always professional & personal & I highly recommend him as an instructor.+ Read More
I have been working with Rich for just over a year. I am clearly his oldest and only retired student. This was something I always wanted to do and I found Rick through Take Lessons. It has been a great fit as he is first and foremost a very talented musician. Next you have to be able to convey that knowledge and make it fit to many different learning styles. Rich picks up quickly on what I am getting and where I am struggling, and adjusts accordingly. Rich has been a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend him to learners of all ages.+ Read More
I waited until I had a month of lessons before reviewing Rich but I knew right away he was great. He is extremely knowledgable not only of drums but also music in general. Every time we get together I enjoy our lessons and in our short time together I can already see improvement. He also does a great job encouraging me and building my confidence as a musician. I highly recommend him!+ Read More
Great energy and positive attitude!
Rich has an enthusiasm for music which is evident in his teaching style. He has a very positive teaching method, and adapts lessons to fit the goal of the student. We highly recommend Rich!
My son really enjoyed his lesson. We are very pleased.
Rich did a great job with my 7 year old Noah. Rich was able to keep Noah's interest and find a way to keep him engaged at every lesson. I also liked the fact that Rich was very kind and he was very knowledgeable about the Piano. Thank you Rich!
Great first lesson!!
Great piano teacher!
Rich obviously knows what he is doing. I have three children taking lessons from him and he quickly found their strengths and weaknesses and started from there. Just a few lessons in and the kids are loving it.
Rich is an excellent music teacher! He is patient and understanding of the needs of the student. He has developed a good rapport with our grandson who is learning to play the piano. We like the fact that he teaches him to read the music as well as learning the keys on the piano. We would totally recommend him for anyone who is wanting to take up music. Rich is truly amazing!!!!+ Read More
Mr. G is an amazing instructor! He has been teaching my 9 y/o for months and the level of progression that he has made exceeds my expectations.
He is incredibly patient and an absolute treasure. We have been very, very lucky to have found him.
Rich is a very accomplished and experienced teacher. His value to one's musical growth extends beyond the individual's instrument of study. Due to his knowledge, expertise, and real world adventures in performing, playing, and singing, Rich's capability of a teacher extends well beyond other teachers that I have had. I would highly recommend Rich.+ Read More
My daughter has been taking lessons with Mr. G. for several weeks and she has learned so much and really enjoys it.
He is so enthusiastic and teaches her at a speed that makes her comfortable. Every time we walk out the door after a lesson, she says, "I just love him!"
Great instructor with very reasonable prices
My 11 year old has been in lessons for just over a year and LOVES it. She enjoys the fact that while she is learning the basics Rich also teaches her some fun things to keep her interest level high. Prices are very reasonable for a private 30 minute lesson, and he is flexible when an issue arises and we had to reschedule - and with kids and other activities that can very easily happen! Rich is very good with kids and very knowledgeable, resulting in a great lesson environment. Overall we are very happy and have enjoyed our experience. We highly recommend Rich as a music teacher.
Working with Rich for almost 5 years, I have found that he has a perfect blend of real-world music application sensibilities mixed with heavy academic accomplishments. Often, you get someone strong on one side, but weak on the other. Rich's real-world experience matched with his formal education produces a very qualified, very practical music educator!
My daughter was interested in learning the saxophone. Since she was a student in Mr. Gunderlock's music class, we decided to have him teach her how to play. Not wanting to spend a ton of money on something she may not be interested in down the road, he let her borrow one of his saxophones (no charge to us). She was even allowed to bring it home.
He was very accomodating with the schedule. We were always impressed with his expertise and his gentle demeanor. I would highly recommend Mr. Gunderlock if you are looking for a really good and honest music teacher!
My son took lessons for over four years and thoroughly enjoyed his time with him. My son acquired tremendous skills which led to him being invited to play with the youth praise team. I am grateful for the years he was a student under Rich. I highly recommended him for any student interested in taking music lessons.
Very good teacher!
My son has taken guitar lessons from Rich. I found Rich to be very patient, encouraging and capable. He is able to tailor his teaching to a child's strengths. He makes learning fun and inspires confidence in my child while learning!
Take from Rich!
I took piano lessons from Rich for about 6 months. At the time, I was hoping to improve my improv skills on the keyboard. Rich is such a talented musician, especially in improv and playing by ear. He taught me some "official terms" in that field, then helped me work through pieces that I chose and enjoyed. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about music, and it shows through in his teaching. After my lessons, I always left with a sense of energy and excitement to work on what he helped me with. He's very kind, patient, humble, and I couldn't say enough good things about him as a teacher and person! Bottom line: take lessons from Rich!
