I have a master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California; and a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. I have taught ESOL for more than twenty-five years, including five years at Jianxgi Normal University in Nanchang, China; four years as adjunct instructor at Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis Community College, and fourteen years at the International Institute of St. Louis.
I have taught students from more than 70 different countries, many different languages, and all levels, from beginners to post-doctoral university students. Course that I have taught include reading, composition, grammar, speaking and listening, American culture, American idioms and slang, and accent reduction. I am available to teach any of these skills, but I especially love to teach accent reduction. Over the years, I have learned a number of techniques to help non-native speakers communicate more clearly!
(Note: I am also available to tutor native English speakers in English composition and literature.
